The Cameroon Diaspora is immensely abled to bring a transformation amongst their community and the country as they have amazing access to the opportunities and full of capabilities. If the Cameroon Diaspora uses these opportunities and the resources they have properly, they would be able to contribute highly in the development of Cameroon.
The present Diaspora stands at about a million who send huge amount remittances to their homeland. However, the truth remains a bit different from what actually appears on the paper. The Cameroon Diaspora is still not able to help the community as much as they want. The amount they send back home and the abilities they have do not commensurate with the way they are able to transform their homeland. The positive activities they take part in points out they are actively taking part in the Cameroon’s development.
Moreover, the fact that they still live on the margin of the host countries hurt the chord. They stand on a comparatively weak, political, economic and financial position in these countries. Their views on the developmental aspects are not sought after and rarely appreciated. The publicity they receive is negligible which harshly affects the developmental organizations they establish. When compared to other migrant organization, Cameroonian Diaspora was found to be marginally linked with any mainstream developmental agency.
Consequently, in order to be able to employ the complete potentials of the Cameroonian Diaspora these constraints need to be discarded.
The issues and challenges faced by the Cameroonian diaspora can be resolved or at least brought to the minimum extent with the complete collaboration from the locals back home and majorly the countries that host them. Better appreciation of their work and better contribution from developmental organizations can help them develop as well as help the businesses back home in Cameroon. Furthermore, contributions from the developmental organizations and the host countries in realizing their position can lead to not only minimizing the issues faced by the Cameroonian diaspora but would also contribute in the development of the people back home.
