US based Orthomolecular physician and Neuroscientist, Dr Charles Hopson, on March 24 in Yaoundé launched the African Brain Channel ABC, a Pan African television channel with national and international coverage.
The channel which was launched in partnership with some State Institutions and Ministries, had in attendance representatives of the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Prof Jacques Fame Ndongo, the Minister of Women Empowerment And the Family, Prof Marie Therese Abena Ondoa and the Minister of Arts and Culture, Bidoung Mkpatt.
African Brain Channel, bilingual in nature has as aim to improve the learning and reasoning faculties of young people. Dr Hopson also said, ABC TV would contribute to the development of human resources, academic competitiveness and public policies in the education sector across Africa. However, the founder, called on stakeholders to make the channels projects sustainable, to ensure continuity and availability.
Dr Hopson explained ABC television, was borne as a result of the COVID-19 which saw the closure of school campuses and left students stranded at home with little or no methods of learning. The channel, he noted, is made up of a committee, consisting of Prof. Ebenezer Njoh Mouelle, Prof Théophile Obenga and Pr Kalala Omotunde.

Dr Hopson re-assured the public on the inclusive nature of ABC TV which has programs for people of all age groups who are willing to learn and grow. He nonetheless reiterated that youths who are the future of the continent remain the target. According to Dr. Hopson, learning is a continuous life giving process because “If you stop learning, you start dying”. He reiterated that ABC TV is different from other channels because it has both educative and entertaining programmes to keep audiences satisfied. In terms of content, ABC TV will broadcast courses in STEM, Literature, History, Cameroons official Languages and others.
The event was crowned with Dr Hopson receiving two distinctions, for his outstanding works in the health and education sectors.
